About Lauren..
Lauren Sullivan is proud to call Northfleet home, where she lives with her husband and two children.
Making history as the first woman to be elected as the Member of Parliament for Gravesham in 2024.
A scientist, author and former chemistry teacher, she holds a PhD from the University of Dundee and has conducted pioneering research into neglected tropical diseases, malaria and human African trypanosomiasis.
Before entering Parliament, Lauren served as both a Gravesham Borough Councillor and Kent County Councillor, where she led the Labour Group and served as Leader of the Opposition. Alongside her political career, she worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Francis Crick Institute.
In Parliament, Lauren combines her scientific expertise with a passion for opportunity, championing economic growth, quality public services, education and healthcare.
A lifelong advocate for fairness and public service, Lauren is committed to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background.
Her priorities include driving economic growth across Gravesham, attracting new employers and investment to the area, supporting local businesses, and creating well-paid jobs for local residents.
Lauren is also passionate about strengthening the NHS and social care system by improving access to healthcare, reducing waiting times, and ensuring vulnerable people receive the support they need with dignity and respect.
She has been a vocal supporter of improving educational opportunities, modernising the curriculum, supporting young people, and ensuring communities have access to the services and opportunities they deserve.
Since entering Parliament, Lauren is Chair of the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) Board and has been promoted to serve as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Kanishka Narayan, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence.
Lauren believes Gravesham is full of potential, with proud communities, a rich history and a bright future. She is committed to securing the investment, public services and opportunities that local people deserve, putting residents first and working every day to make Gravesham an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
